I’ve previously announced that materials for needle punch will also be available at Funky Studio. Now the time has come, the supplies are in stock. Below is a brief explanation of which materials are available and why.
Punch needle Lavor small
This needle is of very good quality and made by the Lavor company in Portugal. The best part is that this needle can be used for many different types of yarn. It comes with three different needles, so you can use it for embroidery thread up to yarn with a thickness of 4mm. All types of yarn can be used, but cotton that splits generally doesn’t give such a nice result. And as always, the quality of wool is often the best. For the fabric, a nice linen is good to use.

Punch needle Lavor medium and large
These punch needles are also from Lavor and can be used well for the coarser projects that are also immensely popular. The medium needle is good to use with size 5 or 6 yarn and the large needle with 6 and larger. The same applies to the yarn as with the small needle. The fabric, on the other hand, is very important with these needles, because a thicker needle has to go through while the fabric should not be damaged.

Monk’s cloth
This fabric is specially developed for needle punching, as it is coarsely woven and slightly elastic. Just like with tufting, the fabric must be tightly stretched, otherwise you’ll damage the fabric.

Gripper strip / grip strips
These strips are specially developed to be able to stretch fabric well. The strips are easy to attach to a frame using a staple gun. They are also easy to cut to size with a utility knife. The grippers should of course always point outwards. These strips are less suitable for tufting, because that hobby puts more force on the frame. However, they are more user-friendly than nail strips, because they stretch the fabric every mm.

Starter kit
Lastly, of course, the gift package / starter kit is a very nice gift to help someone get started with this new hobby. The package includes a needle punch needle and a piece of fabric measuring 70x45cm. And let’s face it, it’s just fantastic packaging.
