How my tufting adventure began

To tell how I got into tufting, I have to start at the beginning. From a young age, I always enjoyed doing creative things. Drawing, in particular, was my passion. Unfortunately, I never became very good at it, and so a hobby faded into the background.

During a difficult period in my life, I looked for something to distract my thoughts. My mother was always busy with all kinds of creative activities, and at this time, she was doing a lot of embroidery. This is how a new hobby was born for me, and I started embroidering.

Even more hobbies

The first creative fair followed, and the hobby slowly became a permanent part of my life. But every life has its ups and downs, and each time I immersed myself in a new hobby to distract my thoughts. This led to crochet, sewing, knitting, and many more hobbies.

Two years ago, my eye fell on something new that was actually very old. Needle punching caught my attention, and in the lead-up to the birth of my son, I did quite a bit of punching. From there, it didn’t take long before I found tufting. Unlike other hobbies, which I often do temporarily and alternate between, I have been doing this continuously for a year now and still find it absolutely wonderful. The possibilities are endless.

Fate

Last year, disaster struck when my mother was in critical condition in the intensive care unit for five weeks. At such a moment, you realize not only how important someone is but also all that you have learned from this person. I was slowly trying to set up a small business for myself. Initially, this was very difficult, and especially during this period, I just wanted to quit everything. But even when my mother was in an induced coma, she spoke to me and said that if I wanted something, I had to do the work for it and that I should persevere.

And now?

Now, some time has passed, and I can say with great fortune that my mother is still here and that she supports me wherever she can. That strength has led me to take the gamble and set up this small business. Next month, I’ll be at my first fair, and the workshops are all sold out. I’m really looking forward to it and am proud of where I stand now.

Together with my mother and sister, who is also always a mental support for me.
