The temperatures are slowly starting to rise, which is often the time when people start to take things a bit easier. Experienced tufters know that tufting is a “warm” hobby, but is that a reason to put down your tuftgun until autumn? I don’t think so, and with the following tips, you can continue tufting comfortably in the summer.
1. Cool space
The first one might be obvious, but if possible, tuft in a cool space. A basement or air conditioning can be the solution here. Now you might not want to move your entire frame, but you can make beautiful things on a small frame too, and that’s easy to build, right?
2. Tufting times
Additionally, you might want to let your tuftgun rest in the afternoon and tuft in the morning or evening instead.
3. Pause and drink
But even then, it’s nice to take it easy and admire your own work more often while enjoying something nice to drink.

4. Small projects
If you’re using a smaller frame anyway, you can also focus on smaller works. A small flower pot or coasters are ideal projects where you can still express yourself, but don’t require too much energy.
5. Deadline
If you’re making carpets on order, I really recommend not setting your deadline too tight. When people invest in something so beautiful, they often don’t mind waiting a bit longer.
What I can’t recommend is using a fan. When I was at the Ascension Day market last month, the weather was lovely, but the wind kept blowing the thread between the nails of my frame. But if you can aim the fan well, it shouldn’t be a problem 😉
But probably the most important reason to keep tufting is all the inspiration that summer can bring. If you wait until autumn, they might be pushed aside for new autumn inspiration. So take it easy, drink well, but keep tufting!!
